That stem has broken. I would like to have the stem repaired/replaced, preferably with something true to the original watch.

I have the crown and want to keep it (you've noted how hard they are to find). I have a genuine H649 male stem on hand. I have some Tap 10 female stems, but I gather those are not correct for the crown.

I've contacted a number of watchmakers who don't want to work on it (usually claiming female stems are hard to source). Do you have any advice or recommendations for a different approach or watchmakers I can contact to do the work? Thank you, and stay well. This is also seen in watches Hamilton supplied to the UK MOD; 71 = 685, 73-75 = 649. The different manufacturers part numbers I was lead to believe referenced a fully lumed second hand (39986), or not (99230). Likewise removable spring bars were initially standard, as with the previous DTU2A/P spec, with fixed bars appearing very early in the 70's.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5855696413978429801.post-30272453312389414122021-07-12T18:44:39.022-07:002021-07-12T18:44:39.022-07:00Hi Otto probably around $200 or thereaboutsHi Otto probably around $200 or thereaboutsHandyDanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02083270175066343104noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5855696413978429801.post-32750644301780164682021-07-11T15:18:23.321-07:002021-07-11T15:18:23.321-07:00hey Dan i just got my first watch w113 my crown st...hey Dan i just got my first watch w113 my crown stem is lose as well and my crystal was lose. nice job on this watch article just wondering what it would cost to do the same thing to mine and also what is a watch like this is worth i am still green but trying to learn fast as i can thank you OttoAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5855696413978429801.post-83293155940817574212019-11-13T12:31:15.572-08:002019-11-13T12:31:15.572-08:00Yes, a little wobble when you set the time isn’t u...Yes, a little wobble when you set the time isn’t unusual. It should be less wobbly when you wind it. If it hasn’t been cleaned and oiled in 30 years then it’s long overdue and should be addressed before you use it. Running a watch without oil (it eventually evaporates) will cause it to wear out. It has spent the last 30 years in a jewelry box. I dug it out last year when I became interested in mechanical watches. It keeps excellent time, but I thought it might have a problem with the stem. The crown moves(wobbles)a bit on the stem, which after seeing your review photos, seems to make sense as it is a two piece stem. Is this play normal? The watch winds, hacks, and sets time just fine. Thank you for any information you can provide.
