Same numbers, same everything. I received it as a gift from my folks for ninth grade graduation in the early 1970’s. I wore it all through high school and four years of college (on a Speidel Twist-o-flex), somehow not marring the case at all along the way. The crystal was replaced at one point. It still keeps pretty good time.
I don’t care how much - or more accurately, how little - it’s worth. Although I never wear it anymore, it means a lot to me and is the foundation of my current collection. If you look on eBay at any given time you might find similar watches.HandyDanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02083270175066343104noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5855696413978429801.post-8581404608163945982017-01-13T12:35:55.802-08:002017-01-13T12:35:55.802-08:00Hey there. The watch you bought on eBay looks "exactly" like the one my grandmother gave me back on the early 2000's. What caught my eye was the twist-o-flex Speidel band. So I'll give you a little backstory leading up to the day I left it in a hotel and lost it forever.
My great-uncle Sonny was a bus driver for the Red and Tan lines in NJ. He drove a bus from Bergen County to NYC several times a day. I believe he bought the watch in NYC near the Port Authority bus terminal. He wore it until he died and my grandmother wore it thereafter. When she got sick she started giving away some possessions like her engagement ring, that watch, etc. I got the watch. Anyway, I was in either Washington DC or someplace in the South East on a business trip when I accidentally left it in a hotel.
Well... I cant say for 100% sure that it's Sonny's watch, but jeez... how many people put a twist-o-flex on their watch (millions, I know :). It looks beautiful and if you're aware of the current owner I'd love to know how much they would ask for it. Nice work, love your site.Quitadamohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05509926429786836854noreply@blogger.com
