If I recall, I paid $76.00 in the Navy Exchange. The only difference I see is my watch face shows "Automatic", not selfwinding. I really have difficulty truing to have the watch serviced in my area.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5855696413978429801.post-63031245586115390722018-09-11T17:59:52.039-07:002018-09-11T17:59:52.039-07:00Call a parts house like Ofrei, Casker, Jules Borel...Call a parts house like Ofrei, Casker, Jules Borel, Barton & Chase. etc. Here's an example of part numbers... http://cgi.julesborel.com/cgi-bin/matcgi2?ref=e[aG`LHandyDanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02083270175066343104noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5855696413978429801.post-90762122013049875302018-09-11T17:02:58.298-07:002018-09-11T17:02:58.298-07:00Need a day click spring can any one helpNeed a day click spring can any one helpFrank papehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09610478783852352134noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5855696413978429801.post-18389675090739829382017-10-16T17:44:19.440-07:002017-10-16T17:44:19.440-07:00Without seeing the watch it’s hard to say but I wo...Without seeing the watch it’s hard to say but I would wager that any female hub would grab the male side. The tap for the crown just has to match the hub thread and usually it’s tap 10. Very nice restoration project!
I have a ve...Hi Dan,
Very nice restoration project!
I have a very similar watch, with the male stem inserted and missing a female crown post and crown. However, the movement is a self-winding Hamilton 66, based on the AS 1866.
You do mention in a one of your posts that most Swiss Hamilton crowns have tap 10 threading. Is that the case in the project above?

How would one go about measuring the correct female crown post? I measured the embedded stem to be about 0.98mm, that would put it in the tap 9 range (1mm?)
Would one have to match the female crown post to that stem size, or can one get the tap 10 post as there's a very high chance the male and female parts will mate with that minute difference? ... and that might make finding and fitting a Hamilton-signed crown much easier... ?

Your comments are much appreciated.
Again, thanks for the wonderful blog!
Sleimanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02072031209627008688noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5855696413978429801.post-9027914879846103162016-07-16T07:40:41.933-07:002016-07-16T07:40:41.933-07:00You would need to confirm what tap size the thread...You would need to confirm what tap size the threaded portion of the stem is...
