1954 Townsend

Made for only one year, the 1954 Townsend is surprisingly common.  I have had the chance to own several.


The Townsend features a 19 jewel, 12/0 sized 753 movement.  The 753 movement was a precursor to the 22 jewel 770 movement that would be introduced in the next couple of years and they share many of the same parts.

The 10K gold filled case is prone to wear to the edges of the lugs so although there are plenty of them out there, the challenge is to get the nicest case possible.  Getting one with an original bracelet would also be a great find... like this one (courtesy of Dave McCamon).


The dial is relatively simple, finished in white with 18K gold markers and a simple cross-hair seconds register.
